The October Odyssey is a 2 day Regional event.
To be competitive in the competition you must run the course for your age class - see below for details.
October Odyssey certificates will be awarded to class winners based on the combined result over both days.
This day is also the NE Championships and an NEOL event.
NEOL points will be on a mins/km basis providing you run your correct class or above.
Hamsterley Forest is fairly accessible from the A1 being signed with the brown tourist signs.
The event will be 'O' signed from a road junction in Hamsterley Village at grid reference NZ115311
|Parking :||Parking will be at the FC Visitor Centre in Low Redford at grid ref NZ091312, nearest post code DL13 3QH. There will be a standard FC parking charge to pay (currently £6 all day for cars). Note that the Forest Drive closes to through traffic after 5pm - there is a barrier just after Low Redford bridge.|
DAY 2 from 10.00 - 12.00, with starts from 10.30 - 12.30.
The start is about 1.4km West from registration, the finish is about 450m West from registration (easy and flat walk).
Long and short courses are available for all courses except M/W10, M80, M85, W75, W80
sorry there will be no short courses for these classes.

Junior (aged 20 and under) + students - £3
|Pre-entry :||There is NO pre-entry for this event. Entry on the day only - first come first served.|
This event is to use the SportIdent (SI) electronic punching system.
SI cards will be available for hire on the day at a cost of £1 per day.
There will be a £40 charge for un-returned or lost SI cards.
Note - SI cards must be used by the same person each day.
|Map :||Low Redford & Windy Bank - scale 1:10000, 5m contours, drawn by Dave Caudwell 2000, with minor updates for this event. Area last used 2015. Maps will have course overprinted and on waterproof paper. If you prefer further protection then please supply your own bag (A4). The Black course will have double sided maps.|
|Terrain :||The area is a mixture of coniferous and deciduous woodland, with some rough open giving reasonable runability. There are some areas of clear fell which will affect some of the courses. Also there are some areas of bracken and patches of bramble that are unmapped. The forest is generally well used by mountain bikers and there are a number of official and un-official bike tracks - please take care in the vicinity of these and be aware of bikers.|
|Control desc :||will be on the front of the map for all courses. They will be in written format for Yellow and Orange courses, but pictorial for all other courses. They can be downloaded here. Click here for a copy of the IOF pictorial control descriptions.|
|Facilities :||Toilets, cafe and bike hire are available near the Visitor Centre. The FC has installed quite a few new play areas for children near the Visitor Centre. Sorry there will be no water at the finish, please bring your own supply.|
|Dogs :||Dogs will be allowed, but please not on the courses.|
|Results :||Full results will be posted on the NN website - www.northern-navigators.org.uk
