A number of controls will be set out in the woods which you can visit in any order. There will be a time limit - collect as many controls as possible in the given time - each control will have a point value with points deducted for being over time. The winner will be the competitor with the most points in the shortest time. Certificates to be awarded to NE class winners.
|Fees :||Senior (aged 21 and over) - £7
Junior (aged 20 and under) + students - £2
School children (up to age 16) - £1.
|EPS :||This event will use the EMIT TFP (Touch-Free Pro) electronic system. The Pro system is more reliable than the standard training boxes and can be passed faster. E-tags will be available free of charge on the day, but competitors will be charged for any loss. Unlike previous systems the E-tag is worn much like a wrist watch and needs to be passed within about 10-15cm of the control box, there is a small red LED on the E-tag which flashes for about 10 seconds indicating a successful pass - it will be your responsibility to check. There is no clear station for this system. The E-tag is cleared at the start control and stopped at the finish. There will be a sample control near registration for you to see the E-tag in action. Instruction in the use of the system will be available on the day. Lost or non-returned E-tags will be charged at £55.|
|Terrain :||The area is a mixture of coniferous and deciduous woodland of variable runability, with a good track / path network. Brambles are quite prolific in parts of the wood and full leg protection is recommended. The forest is generally well used by mountain bikers and there are a number of official and un-official bike tracks, too many to be mapped. The main 'downhill' track called the 'Powerline' is marked in red / yellow on the map - please take care in the vicinity of this and always be aware of bikers.|
|Map :||Chopwell Woodland Park - scale 1:10000, 5m contours, surveyed and drawn by Rob McKenna 2015, based on LIDAR data and updated to current ISSOM for this event. Area last used 2017. The maps will only have a limited legend but will have course overprinted and on waterproof paper. If you prefer further protection then please supply your own bag.|
