	Cong Burn
	Sunday, 12th February 2012

Travel :		Approach by A1(M) to junction 63. Take A167 towards Durham. 
		At 2nd roundabout (B1284 County Cricket Ground and Lumley Castle) turn right and follow signs west
		to Waldridge (and Edmondsley) for about 2 miles.

Parking :		Public car park on the fell, past the Waldridge Tavern (Inn on the Green),
		at grid reference NZ 251497.
		
Registration :	from 10.00 – 11.30.	Starts :	from 10.30 - 12.30.

Courses :		Yellow, Orange, Light green, Green, Blue and Short Brown.
		Courses have been planned to avoid direct crossing of the stream
		straight line routes will run very close to the footbridges and causeway.
		This event is to use small permanent course type 'O' signs with personal punches.
		The signs will have a letter - A, B or C - punch the corresponding box on your control card.
		The system will be explained in more detail on the day.

		Senior non-BO members (M/W21 and over) £6
		Juniors and students (M/W20 and under) £2

Pre-entry :	There is NO pre-entry for this event. Entry on the day only - first come, first served.

Map :		Cong Burn, Scale 1:7500, contours 5m, A4 size.
		Surveyed and drawn by Dave Caudwell, updated for this event - last used May 2010.
		Maps will have course overprinted and on waterproof paper.
		If you prefer further protection then please supply your own bag (A4)

Terrain :		A very detailed, wooded stream valley which is steep in places and contains a wealth of contour features, pits and depressions.
		The technical aspect of the area is further complicated by a very complex path network.
		The woodland is a mixture of mature deciduous trees (mainly oak) and some pine, the younger trees are mainly birch,
		all very runable at this time of the year.
		Above the valley is an open, flatter fell area which is covered mainly in heather (which can be deep in places) and bilberry
		with small grassy areas and scrub.  

Facilities :	Limited toilet, sorry there will be no water at the finish, please bring your own.

Dogs :		Dogs will be allowed at this event, under control in the parking area.

Results :		will be posted on the NN website - www.northern-navigators.org.uk
