      Invite you to a limited colour coded event at
      Cong Burn
      Sunday, 15th February 2009

Travel :		Approach by A1(M) to jct 63. Take A167 towards Durham. 
		At 2nd roundabout (B1284 County Cricket Ground and Lumley Castle) turn right and follow signs west
		to Waldridge (and Edmondsley) for about 2 miles.

Parking :		Public car park on the fell, past the Waldridge Tavern, at grid reference NZ 251497.
		
Registration :	from 10.00 – 11.30.

Starts :		from 10.30 - 12.00.

Courses :		Yellow, Orange, Light green, Green, Blue and Brown.
		Mini-kites and punches will be used.
		
Fees :		Seniors (M/W21 and over) £6 (£4 with current BOF card)
		Juniors (M/W20 and under) and students £2.00
		Schoolchildren £1.00

Pre-entry		There is NO pre-entry for this event.
		At a similar recent event, there were 80 competitors. On this basis, there will be 100 maps produced with courses pre-printed,
		with a few blank maps as reserve. Entry on the day only - first come first served.

Map :		Cong Burn, Scale 1:7500, contours 5m, slightly wider than A4 size.
		Surveyed and drawn by Dave Caudwell, updated for this event - last used January 2006.
		Maps will be overprinted with course and bagged but not sealed.

Terrain :		A very detailed, wooded stream valley which is steep in places and contains a wealth of contour features, pits and depressions.
		The technical aspect of the area is complicated by a very complex path network.
		The woodland is a mixture of mature deciduous trees (mainly oak) and some pine, the younger trees are mainly birch,
		all very runable at this time of the year.
		Above the valley is an open, flatter fell area which is covered mainly in heather (which can be deep in places) and bilberry
		with small grassy areas and scrub.  

Facilities :	Limited toilets, orange squash at finish.

Dogs :		Dogs will be allowed at this event, only on a lead in the parking area.

Results :		will be posted on the NN website - www.northern-navigators.org.uk 
		notification of the availability of results will be sent to those on the NEOA email list.
		If you require a paper copy of the results, please leave your details at registration with 30p to cover postage.
