      Invite you to the North East Night Championships at
      Hamsterley, Windy Bank
      Saturday, 17th October 2009

Travel :		Hamsterley Forest is fairly accessible from the A1 being signed with the brown tourist signs.
		The event will be 'O' signed from a road junction in Hamsterley Village at grid reference NZ115311
		
Parking :		On hard standing off the road leading to the Grove, at grid reference NZ085305.
				
Registration :	from 6.00pm.	Starts : from 7.00pm (depending on sunset).

Courses :		Long, medium and short, with approximate distances of 2, 4 and 6km.
		Suggested course and class combinations.
			Long (N1) -	M21-M40
			Medium (N2) -	M16-M20, M45-M55, W21-W40
			Short (N3) -	M60-M75, W16-W20, W45-W75
		To be competitive in the NE Champs you must run the course for your class.

Fees :		Seniors (M/W21 and over) - £6 (£2 discount with current BOF card)
		Juniors (M/W20 and under) and students - £2

Entries :		If you intend to compete at this event could you please email / phone the organiser with your details
		name, age class, club, course.
		This will help to ease the load at registration and reserve a map of the course of your chosing.

EPS :		This event is to use the EMIT electronic punching system.
		EMIT cards (bricks) will be available to hire on the night free of charge.
		Competitors will be responsible for these cards and will be charged for their loss.
		Instruction in the use of the system will be available on the day.

Map :		Hamsterley, Windy Bank, Scale 1:10000, contours 5m, size 297 x 210 (A4).
		Specially prepared extract from Hamsterley PC map surveyed and drawn by Dave Caudwell in 2000
		which was last used for October Odyssey 2002, day 1.
		Minor revisions for this event by R.McKenna 2009.
		Maps will be overprinted with course on waterproof paper.
		If you prefer further protection then please supply your own bag (A4)

Terrain :		The area is a mixture of coniferous and deciduous woodland with some steep slopes in places.
		There are some patches of bramble and areas of bracken which are unmapped.
		This combined with the good path network gives variable runability.
		There may also be some unmarked bike tracks and extraction lanes.
 
Facilities :	Limited toilets, orange squash.

Dogs :		Dogs allowed at this event, only on a lead in the parking area.
		
Results :		Individual split times will be available at the download station on the night.
		Simple results will also be posted periodically here.
		Full results will be posted on the NN website - www.northern-navigators.org.uk
		notification of the availability of results will be sent to those on the NEOA email list.
		If you require a paper copy of the results, please leave your details at registration with 40p to cover postage.
