      Watergate Park & Washingwell Woods

P R O V I S I O N A L   D E T A I L S

Travel :		From the A1 (Western Bypass) take the A692 (Consett) turn off, travelling towards Consett.
		At the top of Lobley Hill Road turn right onto the B6137 (Whickham Highway).
		The car park is about 400m on the left.

Parking :		at Gateshead Garden Centre car park, grid ref NZ230606
		
Registration :	from 10.00 – 11.30.

Starts :		from 10.30 - 12.00.

Courses :		Orange, Light green, Green, Blue (sorry no yellow or brown).
		
Fees :		Seniors (M/W21 and over) £6.00 - (£2 discount with a current BOF card)
		Juniors (M/W20 and under) and students £2.00
		Schoolchildren £1.00

Pre-entry		There is NO pre-entry for this event. Entry on the day only - first come first served.

EMIT EPS :	This event is to use the EMIT electronic punching system (for start / finish only).
		EMIT cards (bricks) will be available to use free of charge on the day.
		Competitors will be responsible for these cards and will be charged for their loss.
		Instruction in the use of the EMIT system will be available on the day.
		Further details on the system can be found on the EMIT website.

Map :		1:5000 with 5m contours (A4), first surveyed and drawn by Dave Caudwell 2002/3,
		with minor updates for this event. Maps will be overprinted and bagged, but not sealed.

Terrain :		Watergate Park is the site of the old Watergate Colliery,
		which many years ago hit the news when the disused mine workings caught fire.
		It has now been fully reclaimed, complete with a large lake, rolling landscape and country park features,
		although no significant tree cover at the moment.
		This contrasts markedly with Washingwell wood, which is an area steeped in history.
		It is a small compact wooded area comprising two stream valleys, with some delightful features.  

Facilities :	Limited toilets, orange squash at finish.

Dogs :		Dogs will be allowed at this event, only on a lead in the parking area.

Results :		Individual split times will be available at the download station on the day.
		Simple results will also be posted periodically here.
		Full results will be posted on the NN website - www.northern-navigators.org.uk 
		notification of the availability of results will be sent to those on the NEOA email list.
		If you require a paper copy of the results, please leave your details at registration with 30p to cover postage.
