It will be your responsibility to check - do not try to pass the control too fast. There is no clear station for this system. The E-tag is cleared at the start control and stopped at the finish. There will be a sample control near registration for you to see the E-tag in action. Instruction in the use of the system will be available on the day. Lost or non-returned E-tags will be charged at £55.|
|Map :||Cong Burn, Scale 1:7500, contours 5m, A4 size. Yellow course will use a 1:5000 version. The Brown course will have back to back maps. Surveyed and drawn by Dave Caudwell to ISOM2000, last used January 2016 and updated for this event by Rob McKenna. Maps will have course overprinted and on waterproof paper. If you prefer further protection then please supply your own bag (A4).|
|Terrain :||A very detailed, wooded stream valley which is steep in places and contains a wealth of contour features, pits and depressions. The technical aspect of the area is further complicated by a very complex path network. The woodland is a mixture of mature deciduous trees (mainly oak) and some pine, the younger trees are mainly birch, all very runable at this time of the year. Above the valley is an open, flatter fell area which is covered mainly in heather (which can be deep in places) and bilberry with small grassy areas and scrub.|
