Organsiser / planners comments - Rob McKenna
Many thanks for all turning up on what started out to be a fine mild day, but turned a little colder as the wind picked up.
This event is aimed at beginners in an attempt to give them a taste of what our sport has to offer.
I think that Chopwell is ideally suited for this with its well maintained track network - although not so good once you get off the tracks.
To this end it is always nice to see so many new faces (particularly the young families) and they all appeared to enjoy this new experience.
I do hope that they perservere and try it again.
I must apologise to competitors on the orange course for an error in the control descriptions (111 for 110) and for the punch that went missing at number 1 -
this was quickly reported and re-instated.
Thanks to the small band of club helpers - Kath Ivens (registration), Boris Spence (start / finish), Bob Cooper, Barry Young and Cecile Spring for their invaluable help.
I hope that you found that their assistance was usefull.
Thanks also to Leanne Shipley (Forestry Commission) and Liz Searle (the Friends of Chopwell Wood) for their help and use of the Forest Classroom.
